Vieja Synspilum 12-13”

The Vieja Synspilum is a spectacular large Central American cichlid capable of developing intense red, orange, blue, green, and turquoise coloration. At approximately 12–13 inches, these are impressive mature-size specimens built for large display aquariums.

Also commonly associated with the name Redhead Cichlid, this species becomes increasingly impressive as it matures. Adults have deep bodies, powerful profiles, and the commanding personality large Vieja cichlids are famous for.

These fish require a spacious aquarium with powerful filtration. Tankmates should be selected carefully due to their size and territorial nature.
