About This Fish

Bumblebee Oscar for Sale (2 Inch) – Rare Yellow & Black Oscar Cichlid

The Bumblebee Oscar is a bold and visually striking variation of one of the most popular freshwater cichlids in the aquarium hobby. Featuring a unique yellow and black “bumblebee” pattern, this rare Oscar stands out dramatically compared to traditional red or tiger Oscar varieties.

At 2 inches, this Bumblebee Oscar is a healthy, well-started juvenile—perfect for hobbyists who want to raise and develop their own Oscar while watching its coloration and personality fully emerge.

🐟 Species Overview & Behavior

Oscars (Astronotus ocellatus) are known for their intelligence, personality, and strong interaction with their environment. The Bumblebee variant carries all of these traits while offering a completely unique appearance.

From our experience, Oscars quickly recognize their owners, respond to movement outside the tank, and develop feeding routines—making them one of the most interactive freshwater fish you can keep.

📈 Growth & Adult Size

  • Current Size: 2 inches
  • Adult Size: 10–14 inches
  • Growth Rate: Fast-growing with proper feeding

Oscars grow quickly and require long-term planning for tank size and filtration. Raising them from a juvenile allows you to fully experience their development and behavior over time.

⚠️ Temperament & Tank Behavior

  • Semi-aggressive to aggressive
  • Highly territorial as they mature
  • Known to rearrange substrate and decorations

Bumblebee Oscars are best kept alone or with other large, compatible fish in predator-style aquariums. Their strong personality makes them a true centerpiece species.

🛠 Tank Setup Requirements

To successfully keep a Bumblebee Oscar:

  • Tank Size: 75+ gallons (larger preferred for adults)
  • Temperature: 74–82°F
  • Filtration: Strong filtration required due to heavy waste production
  • Aquascape: Open swimming space with secure décor
  • Lid: Tight-fitting lid recommended

Oscars are known to dig and move objects, so all decorations should be stable and securely placed.

🍽 Diet & Feeding Behavior

Bumblebee Oscars are omnivorous with a strong feeding response:

  • High-quality pellets
  • Insects and protein-based foods
  • Frozen foods

They are aggressive feeders and quickly learn feeding schedules, often becoming very responsive during feeding time.

⭐ Why Choose a Bumblebee Oscar?

  • Rare yellow and black “bumblebee” coloration
  • Highly interactive and intelligent cichlid
  • Fast-growing with strong personality
  • One of the best beginner-friendly predator fish
