Albino Clown Knifefish 4–5”
(Chitala ornata)
The Albino Clown Knifefish is a rare and visually striking variant of the classic Clown Knifefish, prized for its ghost-white body, translucent fins, and signature undulating swimming motion. At 4–5 inches, this juvenile specimen is an excellent size for acclimation and long-term growth in large freshwater aquariums.
Native to Southeast Asia, Chitala ornata is a nocturnal, predatory species known for its intelligence and curious behavior. Albino individuals are especially sought after due to their scarcity and dramatic appearance under aquarium lighting. As they mature, these knifefish develop bold markings and can reach impressive adult sizes, making them a true centerpiece fish.
Albino Clown Knifefish thrive in large, well-filtered aquariums with subdued lighting, hiding structures, and open swimming space. They are best kept with large, non-aggressive tankmates and should not be housed with small fish that could be viewed as prey. While shy at first, they often become interactive and recognizable to their keeper over time.
